Matvey Safonov is a Russian football player who plays as a goalkeeper for FC Krasnodar. He is an exceptional talent and I think he has the potential of becoming the best goalkeeper in the world.
In his first season of RPL [ Russian Premier League ]
In 14 matches he made 30 saves, 63 shoots saved i.e. (78%) and 3 clean sheets which are quite good for debut season according to me.
His performances in Champions League was brilliant. In Premier Liga played 50 matches and kept 20 clean sheets. In total, he saved 10 penalties in his career until now. According to https://fbref.com/en/ his total save percentage is 74.3% and made 143 saves plus saves on target are 191 and that's some crazy stats for a 22-year-old player. This champions league season he made 4 appearances conceded 8 goals and kept a clean sheet but his performance was still good and outstanding. He knows his position and he is alert where his post is because it is easy to lose concentration during the game
Check this link, I would suggest all young keepers follow him and learn his near post saving his instincts are pretty amazing. He is the academy player of FC Krasnodar and he is defiantly going to be the first choice keeper of Russia and if keep performing the way he is, he will defiantly be playing for top clubs. In February there was a report that Spurs were interested in signing him as Lloris might need a long term replacement and this player already has experience of playing in the champions league at the age of 22. He even played Europa League last season and 2018/19 where he kept a clean sheet but his performance was amazing and because of which his team didn't concede many goals, his awareness is amazing and he never loses sight of the ball.
He even gave a 50-meter long pass which led to a successful counter-attack goal. His judgement during penalties is remarkable. His jumping and those instincts are just incredible which makes him brilliant at goalkeeping. Russia is blessed with another phenomenal goalkeeper Aleksandr Maksimenko who plays for Spartak Moscow. Both of them plays for Russia U21.
